This time raising a puppy I wanted to do everything “right”. Finding a match between dog owner, dog and dog trainer is not easy. There are many who claim expertise but due to the field currently being “unregulated” I wanted to know that who I would work with had gone through educational training . The minute I met with Teresa Jurgenson, Certified Dog Trainer and owner of Eastside Dog Services, I knew I met the perfect person to work with me and my then 18 month old Golden Retriever, Huckleberry.
Huck had the basics down but I wanted to take his training to the next step and work on his “recall” on and off leash. Teresa met with us, created a realistic behavior and training plan, while educating me on the brain development stages of dogs. This education helped me set safe expectations for Huck and for myself based on his age. Her approach is hands on. After our initial meeting all of our time was spent outside walking with Huckleberry in different settings working on the goals set.
Recently I took a group class that Teresa taught called ‘Fundamental’s for Calm Confident Dogs. In a class of 6 dogs with different needs and their multiple owners, I had the opportunity to observe and benefit from Teresa’s skills as a teacher who can differentiate and identify the needs of all.
Teresa‘s Jurgenson’s understanding and knowledge of dogs, powerful observation skills and the ability to communicate what she sees while offering solutions in a clear, compassionate and patient way has helped me grow my confidence and skills as Huck’s mom! I love and value any time spent working with her.

Teresa is a true dog whisperer! She is so patient and her teaching style made me feel safe outside of my comfort zone. We recently adopted a 4 year old Pomeranian, with little knowledge of his back story. After a few weeks we realized that he (and I) was in much need of training. Teresa came highly recommended by our groomer and boy am I glad we called her. She spent time initially discussing our situation and she created an extensive action plan that fit our goals. Although our goals may seem basic for some, we achieved many wins during our weekly sessions. We now have a dog that is not fearful of being handled, allows us to put a collar and leash on, walk in public, behaves at grooming and answers to recall and is potty trained! I am so thankful for her services. You will not be disappointed!
